Finding a company who not only produce delicious, vegan-friendly chocolate but also put their heart and soul into their work is a beautiful thing. 'The Raw Chocolate Company' is that company, and much more.
Being very interested in their yummy chocolates and great business, we wanted the know more about The Raw Chocolate Company so asked them if they'd like to chat with us. Linus kindly agreed and this is what he had to say:
Hi Linus, tell us a bit about yourself...
My name is Linus Gorpe, and I set up the Raw Chocolate Company in 2006. I was raised in Sweden and finished my schooling in Sussex from age 16 onwards. I loved it in England and have been here ever since. I love chocolate, clean, raw foods, relaxing, engaging with people and nature. I like to be positive and make people smile.
Can you let us know The Raw Chocolate Company does?
We have three ranges of awesome goodies – raw chocolate bars, raw chocolate snacks and a make-your-own section where you can choose the ingredients. Our bars now come in eight different flavours, in two sizes. Our snacks are in two sizes also, with seven different varieties. Our Ingredients Range includes things like cacao powder and chia seeds, goji berries and hemp protein powder – basically, the main things that you would need to make amazing smoothies, shakes, puddings and even your own chocolate!
All our goodies are vegan, soy free and refined sugar-free, most are organic, Fairtrade, Kosher, and gluten-free.
Why did you create The Raw Chocolate Company?
Well, to be honest, I pretty much had to ☺ I had been playing around with chocolate for a while, I made some chocolates and would give them to people, or sell them at school fairs. More and more people said, “you really should sell these”, and then a shop said, “we really want to sell these”.
So I had to form a company, get some labels designed and start making chocolate for real. It was scary and exciting too! My whole house turned into a chocolate factory!
Tell us about your products and what makes them unique...
We want to make chocolate that is as pure as possible. To that end, we do our best to source sun-dried and minimally heated cacao rather than roasted. Our cacao butter is cold pressed, while our cacao powder is non-chemically treated too.
We use coconut sugar rather than refined cane/beet sugar with its extra nutrients and lower environmental impact. Overall, we’re trying to make a great tasting, luxurious chocolate treat, that makes you feel good, and is good for the growers and the environment too.
Who is your chocolate aimed at?
Anyone who likes chocolate ☺ We want to make products that anyone can enjoy, whatever lifestyle or diet they have.
Why did you decide to go organic?
We wanted our products to be as pure as possible, so we don’t really want pesticide residues in them. Also, organic farming is better for the local environment around the farms where the crops are grown as well as being better for those that are doing the harvesting; it’s a win-win for everyone.
We heard your chocolate has won awards, what are they?
We now have 6 Gold Stars from the Great Taste Awards, which makes us very proud. These awards are blind judged, by industry professionals, and in them, we are up against many mainstream manufacturers. So to get that kind of acknowledgement is fantastic. We’ll have to make more products to enter next year ☺
Find out more about their awards here.
Are sponsors/charity important to you?
We get many approaches from charities and good causes on a daily basis, and we help out as many as we can. However, we do have two main organisations that we support – TeenVGN and CircusStarr
TeenVGN is a support network for teenage vegans and vegetarians in the UK. We assist them in many ways to undertake their work with events, outreach and activities.
Circus Starr is a uniquely funded circus that travels around the UK and provides entertainment (animal free) for disadvantaged and disabled children and their families – giving them at least a few hours where they can let go of their worries and have some fun.

What’s next for The Raw Chocolate Company?
We are always working on new flavour combinations and recipes, and it can take up to two years to get a recipe to the level where we are happy to release it. Even then, we make tweaks to try to get the bars and snacks even tastier. So we have 2 or 3 new things up our sleeves for later this year ☺
If you would like to learn more or see their delicious products, visit The Raw Chocolate Company's website. They have kindly offered you 15% off your first order; just enter the code Panda1345 (case sensitive) on their website.
One thing we love to do is create recipes, so when we found out they had their own cacao-based creations, we had to include one! The following is an amazing mulberry and pistachio fudge recipe which was created by the talented Donna from Eighty20Nutrition.
