Top 10 Vegan-Friendly Beers

The craft beer movement has exploded in recent years and there is now such a variety it is hard to choose which ones to try. Also, you can never be sure whether those beers are vegan-friendly or not - some beers contain fish extract and milk.

With that in mind, we have made a list of some great-tasting vegan beers, in no particular order, in honour of International Beer Day:

Nor’ Hop, Moor Beer

available from moorbeer.co.uk

Nor’ Hop Moor Beer Vegan PandaVita

Moor Beer's most popular beer is Nor’Hop, which is available in cask, keg and can, all of which are unfined and naturally conditioned in the container with live yeast to create what they call Modern Real Ale. Nor’Hop is a 4.1% Golden Ale showcasing citrusy hops from North America against a slightly honeyed malt character from one of Britain’s last traditional floor maltings.

Vagabond Pale Ale, BrewDog

available from brewdog.com

VAGABOND PALE ALE BrewDog

Vagabond Pale Ale melds citrus and tropical hop flavours with a light caramel malt base, backed up with a raucously resinous bitterness. Brewed using 100% malted barley, American hop varieties, pure Scottish water and BrewDog's clean-fermenting house yeast, Vagabond is missing only one thing - gluten.

Brother David’s Double, Anderson Valley Brewing Company

available from avbc.com

Brother David’s Double Abbey-Style Ale PandaVita

Inspired by the classic Dubbels of Belgium, their Brother David’s Double has a dark brown body and aromas of warm cocoa, banana, and cloves. Specialty malts impart a toasted, nutty character and flavours of chocolate-covered cherries and candied fruits, while the subdued hop profile and Abbey yeast create spicily, herbal notes to complement the warm, slightly sweet finish. Winner of a Gold Medal in the 2011 Great American Beer Festival™, Brother David’s Double is a truly complex and potent ale meant to be savoured or shared with friends.

Mr M's Porter, Red Cat Brewing

available from eebria.com

available from moorbeer.co.uk

Hoppiness Vegan Beer PandaVita

Another really popular beer from Moor Beer is Hoppiness, a 6.5% IPA combining some of the rich malt character of a barleywine with fruity hops of New World IPA’s. It is also available in all three formats - cask, keg and can.

Blonde, Black Isle Brewery
